Since 2002, Gulf Stream Construction has been involved with the environmental cleanup and remediation of the former Koppers site in the Charleston Neck area. Once a heavily polluted property from numerous heavy industrial uses over the last century and designated a federal Superfund site by the EPA, Magnolia is now poised for redevelopment after Gulf Stream completed cleanup of the contaminated site. With cleanup complete, Magnolia was removed from the Environmental Protection Agency’s “National Priorities List” in the Fall of 2022.

Scope of Work:
  • Excavation, onsite treatment, and disposal of over 6000 tons of NAPL-contaminated soils
  • 183,000 CY of soil imported and placed onsite
  • 45,000 CY of screened topsoil
  • Onsite water treatment plant
  • Installation of over 1000 LF of fused HDPE storm drainage
  • Installation of over 1000 LF of HDPE-lined Precast Box Culvert (8’x5’)
